Cold Care Recipes

Next time you are suffering from a cold or flu, try some of these treatments.

Ginger Garlic Tea
1 clove crushed garlic
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
Pour 1 cup of hot water over this and steep for 3-5 minutes. Add honey to taste.
Optional: Add 1 tsp of mint or thyme.

Achy Muscle Bath
1 cup dried sage
1 cup dried thyme
1 cup lemon balm
1 cup marjoram
Mix herbs together and put ½ cup to 1 cup in a small muslin bag. Let it steep in your  warm bathwater. For additional benefit, use this bag to rub over your skin.

Thyme Honey
Warm 1 cup of honey and add as much fresh thyme as possible keeping it under the level of the honey. Steep for 2 weeks and remove thyme. Add to teas during the winter.

Decongestant Salve
½ ounce beeswax
1 cup corn oil
6 drops eucalyptus essential oil
3 drops rosemary essential oil
Heat the beeswax in a saucepan until just melted. Add the oil and stir until combined. Remove from heat and add the essential oils. Pour the salve into small jars and cap. If you are not going to use some right away, store it in the refrigerator.
